It's foolish to assume that people think something is better just because they didn't have it at first. Therefore I make the claim that the popularity of the JP soundtrack among English speaking audiences says a great deal about its quality. If anything, people playing the Whitehead version after Gems Collection or a US Mega CD copy would likely be put off the JP soundtrack by their own nostalgia.
